Erie Insurance - Worst insurance company i've ever experienced.
Erie insurance company is the worst insurance company I have ever come across in my lifetime. The adjusters and the V.P. of claims management is rude no customer service at all. I had water damage in my home, they did not want to pay the price for the renovations. They did not pay current scale for being displaced out of my home, and my home is still not complete. I've been out of my home for 6 months. They paid me under scale price for me and my family of $40 a day for 65 of those days. I just got that check today after 6 months. Never again, do yourself a favor avoid the frustration and heartache. Check out photo below this is only one room.several rooms were damaged. #anyonebuterieinsurance

The agent was not able to give me the details of the policy that I needed concerning GAP insurance. She offered to send an email to my current insurance agent since the office is closed and have them reach back out to me tomorrow.

Dropped after filing a claim for water damaged from a dormer

I filed a claim for damage from a dormer that had been leaking due to improper repair when the roof was replaced a few years ago. in 2014 the roof was damaged by hail, repair was approximately 6800.00 which Erie paid. Filed a claim in 2018, withdrew it, Erie never paid a dime. Filed a claim June 2019 for ceiling damage due to dormer leaking, again cancelled that claim, paid out of my pocket. Got a letter from Erie saying they cancelled my policy due to to many claims.

Do Not Insure with Erie

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I had Erie for 35 years. I had total home coverage,I thought. Then a storm hit with high winds and damaging hail. I had holes in the side of my house. There was no matching siding to be found. Erie would not replace the siding on my home, quote, Erie doesn’t care about matching. 5 other homes so far had damage. They other homes did not have matching siding available and all got new siding. Other homeowners had State Farm, MetLife, Travelers and the only person who did not get all new siding was me since I am the only one who had Erie. The adjuster told me to paint my siding. This was not what I paid them for over the 35 years to be told they didn’t care when I needed them.

Have been remodeling our house this past year. Was down to last room which was my wife and I bedroom.

Upon removing bed, we noticed soft spot in floor. Upon investigating, I found white mold and rotten floor joist in that area. In 2017, I had a major water line bust under house. Approximately 35000 gallons of water ran under house before water dept noticed usage and informed my wife and I of this.

Had to remove vapor barrier because it became a mud bath under house. We fixed water line and did what we could to dry out. In 2019 our next project was to put new vapor barrier down and replace AC duct work with modern technology along with new unit. Our house is approximately 60 yrs old, but very well built.

Never had an issue underneath in our 15 yrs at this location. Due to the moisture from water leak that flooded underneath, over the next year, our issues began, unbeknown to us. House stays very warm underneath. So moisture was being drawn from damp ground and naturally with a house this age, wood is cured and very easily affected by such moisture.

Sadly I didn't catch in time, so now am having to tare out bedroom joist and flooring to address the issue. Upon contacting Erie and asking for agent, I was informed he was on a paid company cruise because they had won an award for selling most insurance in a company contest. Upon filing a claim, after explaining what caused the issue in first place, it took a week to get a appointment from adjustor, who was very incompetent from very beginning. Then on day he comes I get three identical letters in mail in separate envelops stating he would like to discuss our claim.

I thought wow, what a waste. I realized quickly he didn't give a rip except for figuring out how not to pay anything toward claim.Once on site, which lasted approximately 15 minutes, he begin to go into his spill that moisture damaged wasn't covered by insurance. My argument was I didn't have moisture problem till after the major water leak. Upon leaving on Wednesday, Matt Ladd (adjustor name) said he would be back in touch on Friday or Monday.

Well a week and half later I get a voicemail that said claim had been denied. I called back and left message, but naturally didn't and probably wont hear back from him. Its sad that these companies are allowed to take your money for insurance and yet can screw you when an issue happens that they should help customer with and basically you have no recourse. I will be changing companies in the new year.

I would highly recommend anyone looking at doing business with this company to do your research and especially the fine print before doing business with them. I for one certainly regret it.

While vacationing in Florida, we hit a stroller that had been tossed out of a truck. Called our agent in Cincinnati. From there, things got stupid. Since Erie isn’t in Florida, we were told that unfortunately we would have to do the legwork, get the car fixed and they would reimburse us. I had many questions, but trying to get the adjuster to call back was impossible. . His voice mail said if we called him after 3, our phone call wouldn’t be returned the next day. Well, we tried to phone him at 9am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm, but he was never available. Erie did get us a rental car, but our adjuster says we’re gonna owe on the car because we got a Rogue, we were NEVER involved in the rental process, we simply took what was on the insurance rental, never asking questions. I was a 16 year customer with Erie, never filing a claim during those year. I feel disrespected, I feel unimportant, and I’m sure because I vocalize my disappointment in Erie, they will find a way to not pay. Oh, I’ve got records of my efforts to reach this adjuster by phone, and oh yes, the guy hung up on me as did Bush-Re-Shea in Loveland Ohio.

No need to bother worse experience of my life.

I've been a customer of Erie for several years. Since purchase of my home 2014. In 2017 a wind storm damaged alot of roofs in my community most needing to be replaced. Without any knowledge of how much more your home is damage by wind especially living in a cultasac. First call to Erie sent out appraiser that then had what you might call a chip on his shoulder wanting to play God let's say I was the only homed denied a new roof. Several years later signs of leaking in roof. Called Erie again they send the same adjuster that came with the same smirk on his face. End result good news bad news roof remains the same. Says rubber on pipe lose. Quoted me a price with my deductible being more than the repair. Time for me to move on. Who pays an insurance company to fight with them when you're in need. They can take that insurance and shove it!

My message to my agent :

Ms Tanya I have been reaching out to you about this situation and have asked that my account be updated two weeks ago with the correct address...and unless I check on the status of my account myself and find errors no one would know. When I let my agent know what's going my agent really dont seem to care or get the situation rectified and when I get upset it's a problem..do u understand where I'm coming from...

I pay my bill every month on time if not in advance.I prefer to have a respectable relationship with my agent one who show me I matter and am important and dont look at me as a dollar amount . I know I'm not your only client but but can me and my account be treated with respect and dignity ...at least that's how I feel...here is a summary....

I do not live in Powell I live at XXXX XXXXXXXXX XXX, Groveport, Ohio 43125 and I am requesting that this be fixed immediately along with my policy effective date that I have been complaining about since my policy started 9 months ago and each time you tell me it's a easy fix.... 9 months later it's still not fixed. My effective policy date is not 5/10/18.

My policy start date w/Erie should reflect 5/15/18 as I was under my State Auto Policy through 5/13 that u was the agent for.....u quoted my Erie Policy on 5/10/18....Plz Ms Tanya fix my policy address and my policy effective to reflect 5/14/18 before my next payment is due.I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks Again

Erie Insurance - Defer, Deny, Delay
Updated by user Nov 05, 2018

On October 3rd I got a call from Mitchell Insurance Agency and Corey, who told me that I would be getting contacted soon because my claim had been transferred. The next day I recieved a form letter from ERIE INSURANCE, with no signature, stating the processing of my...

Over two weeks ago I spoke on the telephone with your adjustor Robert Thompson regarding Erie claim A 0000 109****. It appears Robert is telling me that Erie is denying finding any damage to my roof or siding as a result of a tornado-related wind and hail storm which occured earlier this year.

I am not happy, but in order to go further to fight this denial I first have to have the denial in hand. I asked Mr. Thompson to send me a hard-copy of his finding, decision, etc. I also asked for a hard-copy of Nederveld Engineering's report of their finding, which was an inspection ordered by Erie.

I also asked for the name andphone number of the supervisor higher than Mr. Thompson for complaint purposes. Mr. Thompsn said he would send them to me.

A contractor I am working with told me they also contacted Mr. Thomspon who told them he had mailed me a copy that same week. I have still not received anything. My neighbor has a video of the hailstorm and still photos which I plan to use as evidence of the storm.

I have also begun a social media campaign advising friends NOT to use Eire Insurance for their property coverage. Both of my immediate neighbors homes sustained documented damage from the storm and both have had their damages repaired. It is not looking good for Erie Insurance in the court of public opinion.

My next step with this claim is to contact the Better Business Bureau of Central Ohio and the Ohio Department of Insurance. Steve Howard

Steer very clear of this company they are only, I mean 100% only, about making money for themselves! They care nothing about you, as they will not barely reply to you, especially when you are most vulnerable! They most definitely will not assist you in any way whatsoever after you signed on with them! Their representatives are ignorant and liars and talk over you. Last but definitely not least, they will take their sweet old time with your claim from day one, making you and your family suffer in the meantime!
